2014 Feb 25

Samantha Wilt, of Lititz, Pa., served as a volunteer for Alvernia University's South Reading Youth Initiative (SRYI) program last semester. The program aims to promote continued education, mentoring and support for healthy choices in children who live or go to school in the South Reading area. Wilt was a work student student in the Holleran Center and went above and beyond expectations in the South Reading Youth Initiative program last semester.

The South Reading Youth Initiative is one of several service-learning initiatives organized by the university's Holleran Center for Community Engagement.

SRYI volunteers work to provide a positive, educational 'safe haven' for young people through after-school mentoring programs during the academic year and a variety of cultural activities including museum visits, sporting events, annual summer camps, and educational field trips ?EUR" all within the Greater Reading and Philadelphia area.
