Brandi Loga receives 2013 Newman Civic Fellow, the Frank Podczasy Award and Sr. Alodia Outstanding Lab Assistant Award from Alvernia University

With Commencement less than a month away, graduating seniors at Alvernia University received awards during the annual Honors Convocation on Sunday, April 13, 2014. Brandi Nicole Loga earned the 2013 Newman Civic Fellow, the Frank Podczasy Award and Sr. Alodia Outstanding Lab Assistant Award from the Science & Math Department.

Newman Civic Fellows are nationally recognized by Campus Compact as inspiring college student-leaders who have demonstrated an investment in finding solutions for challenges facing communities throughout the country. Through service, research, and advocacy, these Newman Civic Fellows are making the most of their college experiences to better understand themselves, the root causes of social issues, and effective mechanisms for creating lasting change. The Frank Podczasy Award is presented to a graduating senior who demonstrates outstanding scholastic achievement, community service, and dedication to the sciences, and the Sr. Alodia Outstanding Lab Assistant Award is presented to a graduating senior lab assistant who demonstrates a high level of scholastic achievement, community and departmental service, and dedication to the science profession. Moreover, the recipient of this award has shown on numerous occasions to go above and beyond the call of duty of a lab assistant.

Loga of Bel Air, Md., will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in May.
