Cristina Urena receives O'Pake Institute's Undergraduate Leadership Award and the Academic Excellence Award from Alvernia University

With Commencement less than a month away, graduating seniors at Alvernia University received awards during the annual Honors Convocation on Sunday, April 13, 2014. Cristina Arinet Urena earned the O'Pake Institute's Undergraduate Leadership Award and the Academic Excellence Award from the Psychology Department.

The O’Pake Undergraduate Leadership Award is a $500 award, named in honor of former state Senator and Alvernia Trustee Michael O’Pake, presented to two undergraduate students who have displayed growth as campus leaders by participating in a progressive leadership development program and have inspired others through their leadership talents. The Academic Excellence is presented to a senior who demonstrates the highest academic achievement.

Urena of Reading, Pa., will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in May.
