Kimberly Christman Participates in Alternative Spring Break Program

Kimberly Christman of Collegeville, Pa., spent spring break working to help others in Radford, Va., through an Alvernia University Alternative Break program. Christman is studying Psychology at the university.

Beans and Rice in Radford, Va., provides hunger relief, after school programs and financial literacy programs to aid those who are experiencing material poverty or are on the margins. Students took part in community development workshops to better understand the issues faced by those in the region. Students worked with at risk youth to gain a rich understanding individuals working together to develop a vibrant rural community.
