Matthew Junio Participates in Alternative Winter Break Program

Matthew Junio of Edison, N.J., chose to spend winter break working to help others in Reading, Pa., through an Alvernia University Alternative Break program. Junio is studying Athletic Training at the university.

Students volunteered at several organizations in Reading, including Kennedy House, the Humane Society of Berks County and Berks Animal Rescue League. They removed furniture from the Abe Lincoln Hotel to benefit Habitat for Humanity projects, served meals at Opportunity House and New Journey Community Outreach, packed food pantry boxes for the Greater Berks Food Bank, and assisted with the Reading Collegiate Scholars' after school program at Reading Intermediate and Reading High School.
