Melisa Rivera Earns Placement in Competitive Choral Festival

Melisa Rivera of Reading, Pa., was one of eight Alvernia University students to earn placement and participate in the Pennsylvania Collegiate Chorus Association Festival, held Nov. 4-5 at Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, Pa.

Studying Nursing at Alvernia, Rivera had to pass a challenging live audition in order to participate, and then rehearsed for about 13 hours over the next two days under the direction of Dr. A. Jan Taylor, director of choral music activities at Prarie View A&M University, Texas.

This year's Festival was held in conjunction with the American Choral Directors Association Pennsylvania Fall Conference. The Festival concert was the conference's culminating event.
