Shelby Valvano Earns Scholarship to Alvernia University

Hard work in high school has paid off for college-bound seniors. Shelby Valvano, of Meshoppen, Pa., has been granted the Trustees' Scholarship to study at Alvernia University in the fall. Valvano is currently a senior at Elk Lake School.

Recipients of the $15,500 Trustees' Scholarship must have a minimum of 1050 SAT* (or 23 ACT) and a minimum 3.2 GPA. Alvernia's Neag Nursing, Shirley and Joseph Boscov, Presidential, Trustees' and Veronica Scholarships are merit based and awarded on a competitive basis.
