Stephanie Krier Volunteers for MLK Day of Service

2015 Aug 13

Stephanie Krier of Coatesville, Pa., volunteered in the City of Reading through Alvernia University's Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, in Jan. 2015. A graduate of Coatesville Area Senior High School Krier is majoring in Nursing at the university.

By assisting diverse non-profit agencies, students volunteering in the City of Reading are exposed to the vast social and economic inequalities that characterize the country's urban landscape, of which Reading is a poignant microcosm.

The Martin Luther King Jr. federal holiday is a considered a national day of service, and a time to re-commit to serving each other and communities. On MLK Day, Americans across the country honor Dr. King by helping their neighbors and communities. Led by the Corporation for National and Community Service, MLK Day of Service includes thousands of projects spread across all 50 states.
