Alvernia University's new dining partnership prompts transition of technology and management

by Sarah Matarella

Reading, PA (06/10/2025) — The Starbucks location at Alvernia University's John R. Post Center at Reading CollegeTowne, 401 Penn St., Reading, Pa., will be closing at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025, until further notice.

In alignment with the university's new campus dining partner, Aramark Collegiate Hospitality, the Downtown Reading Starbucks location is set to close for the transition of technology and management. This temporary pause in services at Starbucks begins ahead of the official start of the new partnership operations on July 1. There is no set date to reopen at this time, but it will be announced as soon as it's determined.

Alvernia announced the new campus dining partnership in April following a competitive review process aimed at enhancing the campus dining experience for students, faculty, staff, guests and the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters.
