The Class of 2018 has enrolled at Alvernia University, beginning this fall semester.

Resident Assistants (RAs) at Alvernia University have been named for the 2014-15 academic year. RAs are academically successful students, committed to the core values of university, who help build strong and healthy residential communities.

Students volunteered for Alvernia University's South Reading Youth Initiative (SRYI) program last semester. The program aims to promote continued education, mentoring and support for healthy choices in children who live or go to school in the South Reading area.

In-between classes and college activities, students volunteered for Alvernia University's "Alvernia READS" program last semester. The program is dedicated to promoting childhood literacy and improving academic achievement for underprivileged children.

Alvernia students volunteered to help local middle school students navigate the world of science exploration during a week-long camp at the university.

Alvernia doctoral student Sean Cullen & MBA student Nicole Kantor co-authored a paper titled "Celebrities as Nature-Centered Leaders." The paper was accepted for presentation by the Mid-Atlantic Popular & American Culture Association. Kantor will offer a presentation at the 25th annual meeting of the group in Baltimore, Md., Nov. 6, 2014.

College students volunteered their time for two 10-day long South Reading Youth "Creativity Camps" this summer at Alvernia University.

Graduating senior, Brandi Loga, earned the Holleran Center Community Engagement Award from the Holleran Center for Community Engagement, by completing more than 500 hours of community service as an Alvernia student.

Three students earned Graduation Awards for Excellence in Service from the Holleran Center for Community Engagement, by completing more than 300 hours of community service as Alvernia students.

Twenty nine Alvernia students earned Excellence in Service Awards from the Holleran Center for Community Engagement, by completing more than 100 hours of community service in the last year.

Alvernia students have been elected to serve on the university's Student Government Association for 2014-15.
