The following students participated in the Philosophy Club at Alvernia University during the spring semester of 2015. Club members strive to spread awareness of philosophical ideas and concepts throughout the community, while bringing together those interested in discussing and partaking in events that further knowledge in the field.

The following students participated in the Hooked on Helping club at Alvernia University during the spring semester of 2015. Club members earn an appreciation of knitting and crocheting through donating handmade goods to organizations in our community.

The following students participated in the Expeditionary Leadership Club at Alvernia University during the spring semester of 2015. Club members head outdoors for opportunities in leadership and team building.

The following students participated in the Environmental Club at Alvernia University during the spring semester of 2015. Club members work to maintain the temperate deciduous forest, riparian, and freshwater ecosystems about Alvernia University and the community it serves.

The following students participated in the Emergency Responders club at Alvernia University during the spring semester of 2015. Club members educate students on the emergency response system as well as interact with emergency responders.

The following students participated in the CURE-sader club at Alvernia University during the spring semester of 2015. Club members raise funds and awareness for all different kinds of cancer and to spread the word of the heroes who may have had cancer, currently have, or have lost their battle and gained their wings.

The following students participated in the Criminal Justice Association at Alvernia University during the spring semester of 2015. The club focuses on all aspects of the criminal justice system including law enforcement, probation and parole, the court system, corrections, and forensic science.

The following students participated on the Campus Activities Board (CAB) at Alvernia University during the spring semester of 2015. Club members collaborate with the Office of Student Activities in developing and implementing well-rounded activities scheduled for the student body.

The following students participated in the Black Student Union and Ethnic Awareness Society at Alvernia University during the spring semester of 2015. Members are committed to continuing the struggle of equality for all people within society through cultural events on campus and volunteering around the community.

The following students participated in the Athletic Training Student Association (ATSA) at Alvernia University during the spring semester of 2015. ATSA members provide community service and educational services and resources to athletic training students and the general public.

The following students participated in the Alvernia Student Nurses Association (ASNA) during the spring semester of 2015. Alvernia University nursing students are able to broaden their focus to issues and concerns facing the health care profession in general and specific issues facing the nursing profession.

The following students participated in the "Alvernia Sexual Assault Prevention Peers" club during the spring semester of 2015. Club members work to educate the student body and surrounding community on sexual assault and surrounding topics such as prevention and safety.

The following students participated in Alpha Phi Omega at Alvernia University during the spring semester of 2015. Members take part in educational events, environmental remediation, and holiday services at a local assisted living convent for elderly members of the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters.

The following students participated in the "Active Minds" club at Alvernia University during the spring semester of 2015. Club members hope to stop stigmas surrounding mental health, promote truth, help people to speak up and know they are not alone.

Education major Sage Angelisanti is spending this semester studying abroad through Alvernia University.

Alvernia students worked to clean up Willow Creek, Angora Fruit Farm, and the Bog Turtle Creek Farm for the university's annual Earth Day of Service in April 2015.

From cleaning up parks, to helping children read and helping senior citizens with taxes, Alvernia students take on a multitude of service projects during Franciscan Fridays each semester.

Alvernia students planted, maintained, and harvested vegetables in the university's Bog Turtle Creek Farm this spring and summer. This sustainable garden initiative is designed to supply fresh produce to city families, particularly low-income families who need to use government programs to purchase food.

Student Ambassadors have been named at Alvernia University for the 2015-16 academic year. Ambassadors actively participate in campus events, generate student involvement, and serve as a network for other activities and organizations on campus. The program is highly competitive, and requires interested students to submit an essay, two letters of recommendation, and complete professional interviews.

In-between classes and college activities, students volunteered for Alvernia University's "Alvernia READS" program last semester. The program is dedicated to promoting childhood literacy and improving academic achievement for underprivileged children.

Alvernia undergraduates volunteered for the university's Reading Collegiate Scholars Program (RCSP) in the spring of 2015. The program aims to prepare high school students from the City of Reading to attend and succeed at the college of their choice.

These Alvernia students offer tours and guidance to high school students and their families.

Alvernia undergraduates volunteered for the university's South Reading Youth Initiative (SRYI) program in the spring of 2015. The program aims to promote continued education, mentoring and support for healthy choices in children who live or go to school in the South Reading area.
