Alvernia University

Resident Assistants (RAs) at Alvernia University have been named for the 2015-16 academic year. RAs are academically successful students, committed to the core values of university, who help build strong and healthy residential communities.

The following students have been named to Alvernia University's Dean's List for the spring 2015 semester. To be eligible for the Dean's List, students must carry a semester GPA of 3.5 or better and take a minimum of 12 credits.

Led by Drs. Carrie Fitzpatrick and Adam Heinze, eight Alvernia students will apply their studies of water filtration to the barrio in the Dominican Republic.

Alvernia undergraduate students earn Associate of Science, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Social Work degrees this May.

Alvernia students in the School of Graduate and Adult Education earn Master of Arts in Liberal Studies, Master of Arts in Community Counseling, Master in Business Administration, Master of Education, Master of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership degrees this May.

Senior guard Kaitlyn Yoh has been selected as the 2014-2015 Middle Atlantic Conference's Scholar Athlete for women's basketball. This is the conference's highest honor as it is given to one outstanding senior from among the 16 member institutions in each MAC-sponsored sport. Candidates are chosen on their combined athletic and academic achievement.

Senior midfielder Josh Wollaston has been selected as the 2014 Middle Atlantic Conference's Male Scholar Athlete for men's soccer. This is the conference's highest honor as it is given to one outstanding senior from among the 16 member institutions in each MAC-sponsored sport. Candidates are chosen on their combined athletic and academic achievement.

Top Alvernia University students received awards for their hard work at the annual Honors Convocation on Sunday, April 26, 2015.

More than a dozen Alvernia undergraduates volunteered for the university's Reading Collegiate Scholars Program (RCSP) in the fall of 2014. The program aims to prepare high school students from the City of Reading to attend and succeed at the college of their choice.

Nearly 40 Alvernia undergraduates volunteered for the university's South Reading Youth Initiative (SRYI) program in the fall of 2014. The program aims to promote continued education, mentoring and support for healthy choices in children who live or go to school in the South Reading area.
