Emily Reed, Akron, Pa., has been named a 2016 Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact. A junior studying social work at Alvernia University, Reed is highly involved in service through the university's Holleran Center for Community Engagement.

Alvernia Field Hockey forward, Margaret Wentzel, was named Fall 2015 Academic All-MAC. "These recipients represent the true meaning of a student-athlete," said MAC Executive Director Andrews. "This is one of the top conference awards we give out each season. It honors our student-athletes who excel both in the classroom and on the playing field."

Sixty three Alvernia University student-athletes were named to the MAC Fall 2015 Academic Honor Roll, announced in January by Executive Director Ken Andrews and the Middle Atlantic Conference. The academic honor roll is comprised of student-athletes who earned a 3.2 GPA or higher (on a 4.0 scale) while competing on varsity level athletic teams.
